Casa Banda?

Just in beginning stages of planning a Sept-Oct trip to Guancaste / Nosara. A friend recommended Casa Banda, just above Playa Pelada. I have searched the website, looks nice. Just wondering if anyone here has first hand knowledge of this resort / rental?

Any other info about Nosara you can share is appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

We were there last month and it is a fantastic place. We rented a studio which suited us perfectly, but there are larger studios and 1 and 2 bedroom which looked wonderful. The king size bed was comfortable and the kitchen had everything needed including a freezer that can make ice faster than you can use it. The pool area and grounds are beautiful and the hosts are incredible. A most relaxing vacation. Great value. A car is nice to have but not all couples staying had one.

Thanks for the info, buf.

Sounds as if the property is everything that's portrayed on the website. Glad to hear that some one that has been there feels it's a great value.

Were your hosts the owners (Bibi) or rental agent and staff? From your time period and what I read on TTOL, it was probably the owners?

We originally were planning on a fall trip, but are now rethinking for Feb since apparently the rainy season lasts until late Nov.

Did you drive there from Liberia? Are there many restaurants (besides Lagarta) within walking distance if you don't rent a car? We're hoping another couple will be going with us, so a car sounds like it would be the way to go.

The web photos almost capture the beauty of the place. Our hosts were the owners, and they are wonderful. We rented a car in Liberia. The drive is about 3 hours with about 35 minutes of that on gravel. It would be over a 15 minute walk to the restaurants in Playa Pelada, but after dark it would be nicer with a vehicle which also provides more touring options. You may want to check the COCR website as it is c/o at times.

First let me say that although Feb. is high season and you will pay higher rates, it by far better weather. Especially early to mid Feb. when it's nice here. By mid Feb. it starts getting hot, real fast. Right now it's way too hot and dusty! I miss early Feb...

Second I will say that it may be 15-20 minute walk to other restaurants, that are downhill. You would have to walk back uphill to the property and will take more time, and is NOT something you want to do after dark. Having a car is an excellent idea if staying there.

Last, if you are looking for a real quiet property/area, this is excellent. But other than Lagarta Lodge and the little hotel next door which does not get many people, there is nothing up there. I mean nothing! So keep that in mind when making your decision.

Let me know if you have any specific questions about Nosara, as I live here full time.
